The Miami Heat Wave

Search Miami Vacation Rentals

Miami is a town in Florida jam-packed with people and various activities to choose from. Since the city is close to the equator, the weather is generally warm, with the temperature reaching as high as 90oF during the hot summer months from June to September.

Owing to the fact that roughly 65% of the people that reside here are from Latin America, Spanish is a language commonly used around the city, though many of the locals are bilingual.

Beaches and Other Outdoor Adventures
When you think about Miami, you think about the beach. Miami and the beach are simply inseparable. At Miami Beach, you can sit back and relax while taking in some rays. Aside from sunbathing, or going for a swim you can enjoy a variety of water sports such as snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing, surfing, and wind surfing. There’s no need to worry if it’s your first time experiencing any of these water sports since most operators offer lessons.

Scuba diving is another fun way to experience Miami Beach since through this you can see not just the marine life but also some ships, limestone, and other amazing things. The most popular dive route is the Wreck Trek, where the tug, Patricia, and the huge fishing vessel, Miss Karline, can be seen.

Asides from water activities and sports, other outdoor and heart-pumping activities that you can do include riding on a hot air balloon, biking, and indoor rock climbing. Balloon rides are available all year round in Miami so if you want to see Miami’s skyline, the Biscayne Bay, Everglades, and Redlands of Miami, a hot air balloon ride is the best way to go. There are also many bike trails all over Miami, with the Everglades National Park having one of the longest bike trails in town. You may also go indoor rock climbing at Eden Roc Resort, where they offer routes up to 60 feet in length.

History, Arts, and Culture
If you’re into seeing artifacts, paintings, and other works of art that showcase what Miami life is all about, the best places to visit are Frost Art Museum, Lowe Art Museum, and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

Rest and Recreation
Dipping into a pool in the middle of a hot summer day is bliss. If you would like to enjoy this experience with water coming from a spring, the Venetian Pool is the place to go. However, if you would like to do other things as well, such as have a picnic, ride a bike, canoe, kayak, or swim by the beach, you may rent a cottage at the Oleta River State Recreation Park. Other activities you can enjoy on your own or with your family include visiting the Miami Zoo, which houses the largest zoological garden in Florida and is a free range zoo replete with more than 1,200 wild animals, Jungle Island, a tropical garden which has animal shows and exhibits, and the Miami Seaquarium where you may view marine life exhibits and get to see marine shows.

So, if you’re up for a good, active, and fun time near the beach, Miami is definitely the place to go. Pack up and enjoy the lively hustle and bustle that this town has to offer, as well as the fun and relaxing time that it can bring.
