Arizona Vacation – Points of Interest

Search Arizona Vacation Rentals

The great state of Arizona! There’s a southwestern feel, warm temperatures and friendly locals. What’s not to love?! But you’re not taking an Arizona Vacation just to hang out – you want to get around and see the sights!

If you’re taking an Arizona vacation, there are lots of things to see and do. You can take a scenic desert drive, indulge in some water sports after a long, hot day, and do a bit of sightseeing, too. Don’t forget skiing in the mountains and hiking in the desert. There’s also some fantastic camping to be had. Whatever you choose to do on your Arizona vacation, you need to know WHERE to do it! While there are lots of great things to do in Arizona, and picking something out is difficult, to say the least, we’ve narrowed the list down to the top 3 points of interest. Wherever you decide to go, make sure you take a map or GPS with you!

Grand Canyon National Park
For obvious reason, The Grand Canyon tops our list of places to see when you’re on your Arizona vacation. The Grand Canyon is something that you must see while you’re in the state, and it’s located in the northwest of the state. The Grand Canyon was created through a great feat of erosion; that is, the Colorado River created it over a period of millions of years. The Grand Canyon is one of the most marvelous places in the world. If you’ve seen pictures, they do not do this natural wonder justice.

The Grand Canyon is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and when you see it, you will know exactly why. When you visit The Grand Canyon on your Arizona vacation, you can take part in many activities – white water rafting, camping and hiking. Also make it a point to hike the skywalk on the West Rim – this is an experience not to be missed

The Hoover Dam
Yeah, it may look like just a big old concrete wall. However, the sheer size of the Hoover Dam – seeing it in person – is absolutely jaw dropping. Just knowing that at the time it was built, there was none of the machinery that there is today is enough to leave you dumbfounded. The Hoover Dam was built in the 1930s and it’s located in northwest Arizona. It also shares a border with Nevada and was named after President Herbert Hoover. It was the biggest project ever undertaken at the time, and maybe since. When your Arizona vacation brings you to the Hoover Dam, be sure not to miss visiting Lake Mead.

Sedona, Arizona
We’ve included this one on the list. It’s not so obvious – yet at the same time, it’s the best not-so-kept secret of Arizona. This is so for a reason; when celebrities don’t want to be found, they head off and make their homes in Sedona. Just south of Flagstaff, many of Hollywood’s biggest stars make their second homes here (when they’re not, well, in Hollywood). Some of Sedona’s famous part-time residents include John Travolta, Sharon Stone and the great Al Pacino of Godfather and Scarface fame. All of them keep second homes in Sedona, and when you take your Arizona vacation, you can get a city tour that will point out where these homes are. Aside from the Star Factor of Sedona, it also has shopping and dining to match, along with wonderful sunsets. Sedona also boasts some of the most scenic drives in the state.

Your Arizona vacation visit to Sedona should include visiting Solid rock church and Slide Rock Park, where you can indulge in sliding down the fascinating natural rock formations.
